A modest Proposal

LIFE FOR CHILDREN IN INDIA

• About 17 million work, 2 million in hazardous jobs
• At least 6 million live in slums
• About 300,000 - at least - engage in commercial sex
• About 200 girls and women enter prostitution daily, 80 per cent unwillingly
• More than 30 million women and children have been victims of trafficking for sexual exploitation in Asia in the past 30 years
• Under-5 mortality rate: 85 out of every 1,000 births

Sources: Indian Government and Census; Save the Children India; UNICEF

I could not overlook the connection with Jonathan Swift's A modest Proposal.
It might seem farfetched but...

No I don't intend to demean the objective of this post.

I just couldn't stop myself ;)

But statistics won't help much in enlightening people.

A fact, which you should try out :
All of us are been bugged by those kids begging on the signals...
Just try telling them chal mere saath kaam dilwata hoon...And they'll run away...
76.5% of beggar kids are happy doing that and won't work on giving jobs or an admission in school...

Still I support the feeling of helping the remaining 23.5% :-)

Hmmm Sardar, I read the modest proposal (and I think that completes the objective of your post) and it is quite a prepostrous concept... However since it seems it idea of this piece was to stir people into action and it seems to achieve that (refer pondy's comments)
